Prior to departure from Suva, Fiji, both the main and standby fuel pumps for the Doulos main engine broke down. Departure had to be delayed for 16 hours while provisional repairs were made, allowing the ship to sail. Once in Auckland, Chief Engineer, Dominic Bothello (India), searched for a supplier for a new fuel pump. With the prospect of a wait of up to five months for delivery, Dominic and his team prayed for a solution. Soon after, he found a local engineering company that was able to manufacture the main fuel-pump within three weeks! The replacement was fitted in time for departure to Wellington. A new standby-pump could be purchased as well. “This was only God’s provision!” reflected Dominic in wonder and thankfulness.
